In my opinion, Iron Fist (the series) partially ruined the plot for the Defenders.

I definitely think they banked too hard on the plots from DD season 2 and IF, but I don’t think IF did anything to hurt the defenders. My husband had only seen JJ before watching the defenders and he loved the defenders. In fact, Iron Fist is the character he was most interested in after watching defenders.

My take away was that the characters were well written, and in the case of Luke and Danny, were even written better than their series. I think the villains were too weak in comparison to what had previously been established. I think we spent too much time with characters who weren’t relevant to the plot. But most of all, I think they leaned too heavily on Electra when she isn’t the most compelling character or actress. If any series ruined the defenders it was Daredevil. His part in all of this made the least sense and it seemed like they forced a really interesting plot, him giving up superheroics, to be cut short for plot contrivinces. The Daredevil series is fantastic, but his part of defenders is by and far the weakest.
